Laundry Room Beautification
One of the challenge questions today is from Mandy who needs a little inspiration in organizing her utility room!
“My utility room is fantastic really, but it is filled with STUFF. It has three purposes: laundry room, pantry, and storage. It has potential, so much potential, but right now it is a cluttered mess. We are currently housing my brother in law’s deep freeze, so when that is able to go, I will have even more room to work! Thank you for your help and for sharing your gift from our Lord!” – Mandy
My answer
Mandy, your utility room doesn’t look bad at all! I LOVE the wall color, the tall windows are fantastic, and that little “sole mate” sock sign is adorable!
Here are my suggestions: If you can, move your storage elsewhere, such as an attic, basement, or closet. If that’s not an option, just try making it look a little more attractive. Get the deep freeze out of there ASAP, but don’t let that one little section stop you from organizing the rest of the room!
I do have a thing against windows and doors being blocked because those are great spaces and covering them up is a shame! Can you get a taller, enclosed cabinet to hold your food to maximize vertical pantry space? Just make sure the new-to-you cabinet isn’t deep because then it would cover the sliding doors! Possibly push the fridge over just a bit, closer to the deep-freeze, so it’s not visually blocking the doorway.
Is it possible for your laundry rack to be reconstructed so it can be made shorter? Then maybe it can go along the wall under the window where the deep freeze is. You may also want to keep your eyes peeled for great deals on cabinets that you could put above your washer and dryer to hold your laundry supplies (or even an open shelf like the one above this desk would work).
As I’m looking at your laundry room, I really don’t think it looks like you have too much stuff (that is something I RARELY say!), but I’m sure that doing another basic declutter wouldn’t hurt.

I also love, love, LOVE every single thing about this laundry room on A Bowl Full of Lemons – that post is FULL of great storage ideas that are sure to get your wheels turning!
I hope this helps you, Mandy! Let me know if you have any other questions about your utility room and please share success photos after you’re finished organizing!
