Tip: Use Vertical Space
I think I first learned about this tip in The Messies Manual by Saundra Felton and it is so simple but so revolutionary at the same time! When managing a home, always make use of vertical space.
Example:
Unless you actually enjoy a pile of games falling on you every time you pull one out of your closet, try storing them on the shelf vertically instead of stacking them horizontally. This is probably the way you keep boxes of cereal in your cupboard.
Spices, craft supplies (ever try storing fabric file-folder style?), blankets (again, file-folder style), and a myriad of other things around the home can be stored vertically to prevent the inevitable avalanche each time someone pulls a neatly-stacked item from the bottom of a pile.
Try it with one area of your home (I’m guessing the games would be a great place to start!) and see if it doesn’t simplify your life just a bit.
Do you use vertical storage? If not, do you plan to try it out?
