Dreams Are Worth Missing Sleep For
I’ve never been a morning person. While I’ve always enjoyed the quiet stillness of early mornings, I generally wanted the coziness of my warm sheets and a few extra minutes of dream time more than I wanted to get out of bed and begin my daily tasks.
I tried for years to become a morning person, and I just didn’t have the willpower to stay consistent.
When I began writing my book, and particularly as it neared publication, my desire for 10 extra minutes of sleep dwindled. Since I homeschool my little ones and help my husband with his computer business, I do not have much time to work on extra things for myself throughout the day.
I love being with my family and helping them to grow, learn, and succeed, but I also needed something productive of my own. That’s why I decided to start writing again, and morning is the main time I do that.
After pushing through a few sleepy days, I’ve learned to really enjoy waking up early because that is my time to do what I absolutely love to do – it’s a different type of “dream time.”
My question for you is this: What do you love enough that it makes you want to wake up early, stay up late, or skip your favorite relaxing activity just so you can work on it?
If you’re unsure of the answer, find out! Then do it – stay up a little late, get out of bed 30 minutes early, or drop another activity (TV or Facebook would be a good place to start), and spend that extra time working on your own dream.
